Thursday, September 22, 2011 at 07:53PM Obama calls for more of the same
When President Obama delivered his first speech of the 2012 campaign earlier this month before a joint session of Congress, the American people heard more of the same. The same ole rhetoric accompanied by an atypically harsh tone. The true substance of Obama’s latest, near half-a-trillion dollar, “jobs plan” was revealed this week when the President announced that $1.5 Trillion in tax increases will be included in the package.
We have been told this story before. For two and half years, the Obama Administration has tried to spend our way to recovery. The results deem Obamanomics a total failure. Since Obama assumed office, where he immediately began implementing big spending initiatives, we have lost 2.5 million jobs, added over $4 Trillion to the deficit, and finalized over 7,000 new regulations.
Government does not create jobs. Spending and bailouts do not create jobs. Mass regulation does not create jobs. Jobs are created by putting more money in the pockets of those in position to create jobs, which are small business owners.
America does NOT have a revenue problem, we have a spending problem. The White House and the Liberals in Congress are refusing to address the true underlying contributor to our economic woes: out of control government spending. Every single American currently carries $47,000 in debt. The refusal by DC Democrats to address our spending problem has led to a proposal that would ultimately smack 750,000 small businesses with an enormous tax increase.
Washington has spent the last few years bailing out the banks, insurance companies, and the automobile industry. But nobody has bailed out the tax payer or small business owner.
Americans have seen this before, which is why last November, voters sent a resounding message to DC to cut spending, reduce regulations, and keep tax rates low. Yet, all we have seen from Washington is more spending, more debt, more taxes, less jobs, and zero economic relief for the small businesses that drive our economy.
As Americans we rise and fall together. The Obama strategy is only dividing the country. We must come together and have an honest, meaningful discussion to lift this burden off the American people.
