South Bend, IN- Today, Jackie Walorski announced she has the endorsement of seven Republican County Chairmen throughout Indiana’s Second District.

The Chairmen for St. Joseph, Elkhart, LaPorte, Pulaski, Fulton, Starke, and Miami counties’ Republican Central Committees announced their backing of Walorski. Those counties account for more than 80% of the population of the 2nd District.

“Jackie brought strong conservative leadership to the legislature in Indianapolis, and she will bring that same leadership to the United States Congress,” said Deb Fleming, St. Joseph County Republican Chairman. “Our country faces many challenges. From out of control government spending, to getting our economy going again, Jackie will ensure the voters of the 2nd District have a Congressman who understands that, and will stand up for them.”

“I am humbled to be endorsed by so many of the leaders of our local parties,” said Walorski. “Their hard work at recruiting volunteers and building a grassroots organization will be pivotal to ensuring we are successful next November.”

The endorsement by the County Chairs comes the day after the news of the positive prediction from a leading Washington publication. Roll Call has predicted that Indiana's Second Congressional District will flip parties next year. This is the first of such predictions made by Roll Call for the 2012 election cycle. They said, “The new district also presents a prime opportunity for Donnelly's 2010 competitor, former state Rep. Jackie Walorski (R), whose base south of South Bend is now the 2nd's population center. Walorski, who served in the state House with many of the members who drew the new lines, announced she would run again for the seat before the maps were even proposed to the public. It's the first House seat of the cycle that Roll Call Politics has rated as likely to flip to the other party, making it that much more difficult for Democrats to win back the majority in 2012.”

The Chairmen that have endorsed Walorski are listed below.
