INDIANAPOLIS – The conservative Maggie’s List political action committee has endorsed two Indiana women running for seats in the U.S. House of Representatives.
One of those women is Susan Brooks, who is running in the state’s 5th District, which includes Noblesville and Carmel. The other is Jackie Walorski, in the 2nd District, which includes South Bend.
The PAC launched in 2010 and its goal is to elect more conservative women to Congress. Maggie’s List officials say the group stands for fiscal responsibility, small government and strong national defense.
“I am honored to have the support of Maggie’s List,” said Brooks. They’re “an organization that shares my commitment to conservative solutions to our nation’s challenges, smaller government and a strong national defense.”
Brooks is currently senior vice president for workforce and economic development at Ivy Tech. She’s running in a seat currently represented by Republican Dan Burton, but he retired in January. Brooks will face off against Democrat Scott Reske in November.
Walorski is a former of the Indiana House. She was defeated in her 2010 bid for a U.S. House by Democrat Joe Donnelly, who is now running for Senate. This year, she is facing Democrat Brendan Mullen.
“Jackie Walorski has a global perspective that she used in the Indiana House of Representatives to fight for lower taxes and eliminate wasteful government spending,” said Sandra Mortham, chair of Maggie’s List.
