Republican Jackie Walorski raised more in the second quarter of the year than Democrat Brendan Mullen in the race for the Second District seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.
She also finished the period with more funds left on hand, more funds raised overall throughout the election cycle and more funds spent.
Fundraising reports for the April 19 through June 30 period were due Sunday with the Federal Election Commission. Tallied together with numbers covering the April 1 through April 18 period, due earlier, they show that:
• Walorski, of Elkhart, had raised $321,626.44 in the three-month period to $255,599.77 by Mullen, from South Bend. In all Walorski has raised $1,119,542.37 during the cycle compared to $801,443.85 by Mullen.
• Walorski spent $167,498.23 in the second quarter compared to $129,141.65 by Mullen. In all Walorski has spent $554,175.94 on her election bid compared to $224,290.41 by Mullen.
• Walorski’s remaining war chest totaled $724,544.86 as of June 30 compared to $574,909.05 for Mullen.
Joe Donnelly, D-Granger, currently holds the Second District seat, which includes all of Elkhart County per redistricting. He’s running for the U.S. Senate this cycle though and Walorski and Mullen are the main party hopefuls for the U.S. House post.
