Family Research Council Action “True Blue” Award
March 15, 2016

FRC Action released its annual Vote Scorecard for Members of Congress and Senators showing which Members demonstrated an unwavering commitment and consistent support of faith, family and freedom during the first session of the 114th Congress. In all, 89 representatives, including Walorski, scored a perfect 100 percent on this year’s scorecard. Key FRC Votes in the U.S. House included:

  • Eliminating Taxpayer funding for Abortion
  • Repealing Obamacare
  • Repealing the Death Tax
  • Banning abortion on five month-old pain-capable unborn children
  • Short Term Government Funding without Defunding Planned Parenthood
  • Defunding Planned Parenthood and Repealing Key Elements of Obamacare
  • Votes to prevent the relaxation of marijuana laws

Family Research Council Action President Tony Perkins made the following comment regarding Rep. Walorski:

“We thank Representative Walorski for consistently voting to uphold the fundamentals of faith, family and freedom. Rep. Walorski voted to repeal key parts of Obamacare, protect the unborn, end the forced partnership between taxpayers and Planned Parenthood, and protect state marriage laws before the Supreme Court changed the historic definition of marriage.” “We can be encouraged by elected officials who are willing to be criticized by some in the media and the intolerant voices of secularism as they stand for family values. Congress as a whole is often criticized, and rightfully so, but there are individual Members, like Rep. Walorski, who deserve praise for their unwavering commitment to stand for life, family, marriage, and religious liberty. ” “Family Research Council Action and the hundreds of thousands of families we represent are proud to recognize [Rep. Walorski] for [her] faithful work. Our hope is that in the next Congress, she will be joined by many more like her,” Perkins concluded.”

Walorski has a 100% voting record with Family Research Council. To view a copy of the Vote Scorecard, visit http://www.frcaction.org/scorecard

[Your Voice] Jackie’s Record on Life
February 19, 2016

Read the LTE from the Elkhart Truth:

As a pregnant mother and proud member of the pro-life movement, I strongly support defunding Planned Parenthood. That’s why I think it’s important to make sure the truth is known on Jackie Walorski’s record. Unlike some of the rumors that have been floating around, as National Right To Life has explained, the recently passed spending bill did NOT include any of the mandatory spending where Planned Parenthood receives their funds. Also, as National Right to Life has stated, in order for Planned Planned to be defunded a new law must be in enacted to deny federal funds. That bill is exactly what Jackie supported again recently. I believe it is very important that all pro-life supporters are aware of this so we can continue supporting our pro-life candidates in the fight against Planned Parenthood. I thank Jackie and National Right to Life for all they are doing to stand for life.

[In the News] WNDU: Congresswoman Jackie Walorski introduces bills aimed at helping veterans
January 27, 2016

Jackie sat down with WNDU to talk about some things she’s been working on in Congress.

Read the full article:

Food insecurity is a reality for too many Americans. It simply means they don’t know where their next meal will come from.

Indiana’s 2nd District Congresswoman Jackie Walorski (R) is the chair of the Nutrition Subcommittee looking into nutrition assistance. She has been reviewing SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) for the past 13 months. Wednesday on 16 Morning News, she joined Tricia Sloma to talk about that and other issues facing Congress.

“It’s looking at, you know, how do we holistically look at people and take care of them from falling through a crack,” Walorski said. “We’re using evidence based research from a professor right here at Notre Dame… one of the things we’re really looking at is how do we help people bridge out of poverty. There’s still 46 million Americans in poverty in this country.”

Rep. Walorski is also working on two pieces of legislation she introduced geared toward veterans.

First, the VA Mobility Bill; Rep. Walorski says in her district, there are two businesses who make cars that are wheelchair accessible and they offer these to veterans at a reduced cost through their VA benefits. The problem, she says, is there are no set standards for the vehicle producers and veterans have come to her complaining that the bumper off their car fell off, or the wheelchair lift doesn’t lift properly. Walorski says this bill would require all mobility producers to comply with a set of standards to ensure each veteran has a safe vehicle.

Another bill would require VA health systems to report drugs to statewide databases. Walorski says currently, VA’s across the country are not required to report the amount of drugs of various substances to their statewide drug monitoring database, that pharmacists, doctors and physicians must report to that allows the state to track high amounts of prescriptions to each patient.

Walorski says she has discovered that in some cases, VA doctors are overprescribing medication to veterans like hydrocodone and oxycontin and they in turn are either getting addicted to the pain medication or selling it. This bill would require every VA facility report their narcotic levels and what is prescribed to each veterans to their corresponding statewide drug monitoring program. In Indiana, the database is called, INSPECT.
