[In the News] South Bend Tribune: Walorski opening campaign office in Mishawaka
August 18, 2016

MISHAWAKA — U.S. Rep. Jackie Walorski, R-Jimtown, will hold a rally Saturday morning to celebrate the opening of her campaign headquarters at 719 W. McKinley Ave. in Mishawaka.

Three Republican candidates for statewide office — Eric Holcomb, running for governor; Todd Young, running for U.S. Senate, and Curtis Hill, running for attorney general — will join Walorski at the event, which is scheduled for 10:45 a.m.

Walorski is running for her third two-year term in the 2nd Congressional District seat that represents north-central Indiana. She is facing challenges from Democrat Lynn Coleman and Libertarian Ron Cenkush.

“I am excited for the opening of our new campaign victory headquarters so our volunteers can reach even more voters,” Walorski said in a statement. “This campaign couldn’t run without the continued support of our volunteers, and the rally on Saturday is a chance to say thank you and to give folks an opportunity to join our team for the coming weeks of this campaign.”

[In the News] Wabash Plain Dealer: Walorski, Coleman Respond to Terror, Protests
July 17, 2016

Jackie talked to the Wabash Plain Dealer in response to recent terror attacks

Read more:

Walorski has focused much of her campaign on national security and has consistently denounced President Barack Obama’s response to the Islamic State, especially following attacks claimed by the terror group.

“Here’s the problem,” she told the Plain Dealer last week. “We’re a nation at war with radical Islamic terrorism. We’re seeing all these symptoms.”

Walorski expressed her concern with ISIS and the situation developing in Turkey, where the military attempted a coup.

“There’s a lot we don’t know,” Walorski said on Friday. “But what’s clear is the instability continues to threaten our national security. These are all symptoms of a growing issue that our president continues to ignore.”

Walorski has also been an opponent of transferring inmates held at the prison in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, where suspected terrorists are held, and has repeatedly criticized the president for his lack of a “comprehensive strategy” to defeat ISIS.

“We’re going to be dealing with more and more of these attacks here at home,” Walorski said. “I think we’re recognizing that.”

Walorski previously advocated for a temporary halt to the resettlement of Syrian refugees, stating in an interview with Fox News following the attack in Paris last year that the idea is supported by the American people and that she believes the vetting process is insufficient.

[In the News] WTCA: Walorski Supports Comprehensive Anti-Opioid Legislation
July 10, 2016

“Dozens of Americans die each day from opioid overdoses, and this has to stop,” Congresswoman Walorski said.“There is a long battle ahead of us. A lot of damage has already been done. But this bill represents an important step forward as we seek to stop over-prescription and end opioid addiction in our country.”

The final version of the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act (S. 524), which passed the House by a vote of 407 to 5, included two measures authored by Walorski to protect veterans. One provision would require the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to participate in state prescription drug monitoring programs (PDMPs), and the other would allow the VA to use FDA-approved medical devices and other non-opioid therapies to treat chronic pain.

Walorski, a member of the Veterans’ Affairs Committee who served on the conference committee that completed negotiations this week on final legislation, spoke on the House floor Friday in support of the bill.

[In the News] Indiana Public Media: Walorski Bill Approved In The House Aims To Reduce VA Wait Times
May 25, 2016

VA hospital supervisors would lose money if they fail to cut down long wait times, under a bill unanimously approved by the House. Congress gave the VA authority to fire supervisors or deny them incentive bonuses after revelations of hours-long wait times at some facilities. Indiana Congresswoman Jackie Walorski says neither has happened.

“This gives us the ability to say bonuses are gone mandatorily from the U.S. Congress and so it does have more teeth. I think they’ve been using this to incentivize these folks. So we went right to what motivates them and that seems to be their pockets and we took that money.”

The VA sets standards for maximum wait times. Walorski complains the agency has routinely granted waivers when centers plead they’re understaffed.

Walorski’s bill would ban those exemptions. The bill would require an annual report to Congress on wait times at each VA facility, and would deny bonuses to the directors of facilities that don’t comply.

Walorski labels “reprehensible” VA Secretary Robert McDonald’s comparison of long wait times to long lines at Disneyland. McDonald says the larger question should be the quality of the service once they get in. Walorski charges the Disneyland analogy shows the agency isn’t taking the issue seriously.

Walorski says she expects the Senate to follow the House’s lead.

[Endorsement] IN. Farm Bureau ELECT PAC Endorses Walorski
April 18, 2016

Congresswoman Jackie Walorski announced that she has been endorsed by the Indiana Farm Bureau ELECT PAC, the nonpartisan political action committee associated with Indiana Farm Bureau, for the 2016 May primary.

April 18, 2016 – Congresswoman Jackie Walorski announced that she has been endorsed by the Indiana Farm Bureau ELECT PAC, the nonpartisan political action committee associated with Indiana Farm Bureau, for the 2016 May primary.

ELECT endorsements are made through a multi-step grassroots process, starting with recommendations from Farm Bureau members who live in the district.

“We are pleased to endorse Jackie Walorski for Indiana’s second congressional district,” said Megan Ritter, director of public policy for Indiana Farm Bureau. “ELECT’s primary endorsement of Jackie Walorski is recognition of her support of policies that will foster a positive environment for agriculture and rural communities across the state.”

“Jackie Walorski understands that Indiana’s producers of food, fuel and fiber are the backbone of our state’s economy,” said Ritter. “We look forward to working with her in the 115th United States Congress.”

Walorski said, “Since my first day in Congress, I’ve been honored to have the opportunity to visit farmers across the Second District, sit at their dining room tables and tour their farms, to learn how I can best represent agriculture in Congress. It has been a privilege to be the only Hoosier to serve on the House Committee on Agriculture where I’ve had the opportunity to fight against excessive EPA regulations, protect crop insurance, and support important trade legislation that will open doors for economic growth in agriculture. I’m grateful to the Indiana Farm Bureau ELECT PAC for their endorsement.”

April 13, 2016

U.S. Rep. Jackie Walorski has received the endorsement of the National Rifle Association.

Tim Vandenack -

“You have consistently opposed attempts to ban lawfully owned firearms, magazines and ammunition, and have stood against President Obama’s and Hillary Clinton’s gun control agenda,“ Chris Cox, chairman of the NRA’s Political Victory Fund, said in an endorsement letter to the Republican lawmaker. Walorski, running for her third term in elections this year, said she is ”committed to defending the Second Amendment and protecting the right to bear arms.“ Last week, Walorski received the endorsement of Susan B. April 12, 2016

National Rifle Association Political Action Fund Endorses Walorski for 2016 Primary

South Bend, Ind. - Today, Congresswoman Jackie Walorski announced that she has been endorsed by the National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) for the 2016 May primary election in Indiana’s 2nd Congressional District. The NRA-PVF’s endorsement included an “A” rating for her pro-Second Amendment voting record.

“On behalf of our five million members, we are pleased to endorse Congresswoman Jackie Walorski for reelection in the Republican primary in Indiana’s 2nd Congressional District,” said Chris W. Congratulations on your “A” rating and endorsement, and thank you for your steadfast support of the Second Amendment,” concluded Cox.

“I am grateful for this support from the NRA,” said Walorski. “From my time in the Indiana State House where I co-authored legislation for a lifetime handgun permit to my work now in the House of Representatives, I remain committed to defending the Second Amendment and protecting the right to bear arms.”
