Elkhart, IN – Republican Congressional Candidate Jackie Walorski hosted a small business summit today with local small business leaders and entrepreneurs. The meeting was in association with National Small Business Week.

“Indiana's 2nd district needs an independent voice in Congress who will fight to pass real reforms and get our small businesses and entrepreneurs back to doing what they do best…creating jobs,” Walorski said.

The meeting revolved around topics that directly affect small businesses in North Central Indiana. The group discussed workforce training, business taxes, environment regulations, and uncertainty created by the government. The meeting included businessmen and women from across Indiana’s 2nd congressional district.

Ben Mauser, President, of Irvine Shade & Door, said that he trusts Jackie to fight for small businesses. Mauser continued by saying, “that Walorski is the candidate who possesses the knowledge, experience, and skill set to partner with small businesses to create a favorable business environment that will lead to small business growth.”

As the conversation turned to job creation, Jason Obendorf, the National Sales Director for ObeCo, spoke about his company’s hiring policies. “We could grow, I could double my workforce, but I am not going to. There is too much uncertainty with inflation and the debt coming out of Washington,” said Obendorf.

“Government bureaucrats do not need to be placing an unnecessary burden on small businesses and entrepreneurs. I will work, starting on day one, to get our economy moving and make job creation my top priority,” Walorski said.

(Indianapolis, IN) Yesterday, former State Representative Jackie Walorski filed her candidacy to represent Indiana’s 2nd District in the United States Congress with the Indiana Secretary of State.

“Our country is heading in the wrong direction, said Walorski. “I am running for Congress to get our economy back on track so businesses can create jobs, and to get government spending under control- balancing the budget.”

In the legislature, Jackie developed a reputation as a solid conservative leader in the fight for lower taxes and against wasteful government spending. Now Jackie is working to take her conservative philosophy to the United States Congress.

“In the State House, I stood up to the big spenders to cut waste and balanced the budget without raising taxes,” continued Walorski. “In Congress, I will take that same approach to get our country working again.”

Jackie Walorski is a native Hoosier, born and raised in South Bend, Indiana. Jackie attended Riley High School in South Bend and graduated with a BA from Taylor University, also in Indiana. She started her career as a reporter. Later she worked as a Development Director to raise funds for local colleges and universities. Shortly after marrying her husband Dean, a Mishawaka school teacher, Jackie and Dean moved to Romania. While in Romania, they founded their own agency and local foundation to help provide much-needed medical supplies to the country’s impoverished children.

After returning home, Jackie was elected to her first of three terms in the Indiana House of Representatives in 2004. She rose quickly to leadership becoming the Assistant Floor Leader for the Republican Caucus.

Gun Owners of America Political Victory Fund is pleased to announce the endorsement of Jackie Walorski for Congress in Indiana's Second District.

Jackie stands 100% in favor of the rights of gun owners, somet hing she proved time and again during her time in the state legislature.

As a state representative, Jackie has never wavered in her support of the Second Amendment. Jackie coauthored and helped to pass Indiana's lifetime concealed carry permit legislation, the first law of its kind in the nation.

A firm believer that citizens have the right to protect themselves inside and outside of the home, Jackie also cosponsored Indiana's Castle Doctrine bill to protect the right of citizens to act in self defense inthe face of a violent attack—whether it occurs in the home, in a car or on the streets.

Jackie understands the dangers of compromising principle, and she is committed to fighting against any effort in Congress that will infringeon the right to keep and bear arms. Herviews of the Second Amendment are consistent with those of the Founding Fathers and with the majority of Hoosier State voters.

"What sets us apart as a nation," says the South Bend native, "is our ability to protect ourselves. We don't live in a police state. We don't live in a place where only the military and the police officers have weapons. This nation was grounded and founded on individuals' right to protect themselves."

In the last election, Jackie ran against incumbent Rep. Joe Donnelly and came within one point of victory. Instead of facing Walorski again in a more Republican district, Donnelly opted to run statewide. This is now one of the best opportunities in the country for gun owners to gain a true friend in Congress.

Jackie Walorski is a candidate all gun owners—both inside and outside of Indiana—should stand with both financially and with their volunteer efforts.
