ELKHART VETERAN CONDEMNS MULLEN ATTACK AD

Elkhart, IN- In response to a controversial attack ad released by Democratic Candidate Brendan Mullen, Elkhart Air Force Veteran Bill Rohman released the following statement on behalf of Republican Jackie Walorski:

“As a veteran, I am deeply disappointed that a fellow veteran would condone the name-calling aired in his attack ad.  We are all Americans, and to engage in such rhetoric is inappropriate for this political race.  Jackie Walorski has a record of supporting veterans during her time in the state legislature and salutes members of the Armed Forces for their dedicated service to this great country,” said Rohman.

The video features a Mullen surrogate accusing Walorski of being “un-American” after the release of her fact-based ad labeling Brendan Mullen as a Washington DC insider.  Walorski’s campaign commercial claims Mullen is a DC insider based on the fact that he was recruited to run for Congress by Washington Democrats and has received massive campaign contributions from liberal special interest groups including Nancy Pelosi and labor unions.

Walorski never mentions Mullen’s service record in any part of her ad.

    WALORSKI TOURS MANUFACTURING FACILITIES

Elkhart, IN- Republican Congressional Candidate Jackie Walorski (IN-02) this week embarked on the first leg of her manufacturing tour at local facilities around the district.  As part of an extensive jobs tour that will continue throughout the campaign, Walorski met with factory owners and employees to learn more about their industries and hear their concerns.

“Manufacturing is an integral part of Indiana’s economy and a critical job creator for Hoosiers,” said Walorski.  “Our state has built a dynamic manufacturing industry that accounts for almost all of our exports and comprises many small businesses.  Indiana lawmakers must continue to support manufacturing through pro-business economic polices to spur job growth.”

Walorski toured a variety of facilities between Rochester and Mishawaka, observing the production of different components ranging from medical device equipment to heavy truck automotive parts.  Motor vehicle, RV, metal, and plastic parts manufacturing are amongst the most prolific industries in the district.

"Jackie Walorski is exactly the type of representative we need in Washington. I am convinced that her understanding of small business, schools, taxation and the role that government plays in these areas is what is needed to bring this country out of the malaise we have now inherited from the Obama years," said Jack Champaigne, President of Electronics Inc. in Mishawaka.

According to the National Association of Manufacturers, Indiana has the highest percentage of manufacturing jobs in the nation, employing 16% of the state’s workforce.  Indiana’s second district is home to 870 manufacturing facilities, providing over 66,000 Hoosier jobs.

“The entrepreneurial spirit and innovation fostered by our business owners is unparalleled,” said Walorski.  “Regardless of the industry, manufacturing companies are challenged with the same uncertainties holding back businesses, including increased health care costs, new taxes, and burdensome regulations.  Congress must cut red tape to allow manufacturing to proliferate and create more Hoosier jobs.”

As the campaign season continues, Walorski plans to visit other manufacturing facilities across the state.

WALORSKI STATEMENT ON JULY UNEMPLOYMENT REPORT

Elkhart, IN- Republican Congressional Candidate Jackie Walorski (IN-02) today released the following statement regarding the Department of Labor’s July unemployment report:

“With the national unemployment rate ticking up to 8.3% this month, the President and Congress need to reevaluate their approach toward repairing our weak economy.  Americans have been struggling with an unemployment rate over 8% for 42 consecutive months, a daunting statistic that does not line up with the promises of this Administration.  There is overwhelming evidence of fatigue and exhaustion from our unemployed workers who are fighting to find full-time and adequately paid jobs.  In the wake of this report, I hope Congress will follow the House’s lead and pass their jobs bill to prevent devastating tax hikes looming over small businesses. Lawmakers must come to the table and find commonsense solutions to roll back taxes and regulations to improve this tepid economic climate.”

WALORSKI, PENCE CELEBRATE GRAND OPENING OF MISHAWAKA VICTORY CENTER

Mishawaka, IN- Republican Congressional Candidate Jackie Walorski (IN-02) and Gubernatorial Candidate Mike Pence today officially cut the ribbon at the grand opening ceremony of their second Northern Indiana Victory Center in Mishawaka.

“I am thrilled to open the doors to another Victory Center today with Mike,” said Walorski. “Our grassroots supporters have already been working hard in Elkhart to help us get out the vote, and now we have another fully equipped facility to keep the momentum rolling.”

Walorski and Pence celebrated the Mishawaka opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony this afternoon in front of nearly 120 supporters.  Both candidates energized the crowd with some brief remarks and updates about their campaign operations.

The Mishawaka Victory Center is the second location to open in the district this month.  Walorski, Pence, and Senate Candidate Richard Mourdock celebrated the Elkhart Victory Center grand opening on July 7th.  This new facility will serve as another headquarters for volunteers to make phone calls, pick up campaign supplies, and organize events to promote Republican candidates.

“Spirits are high in northern Indiana, and our supporters are more motivated than ever to pack these Victory Centers and spread our message to Hoosiers.  The people of the second district are frustrated with the partisanship and gridlock in Washington, and are ready to send an independent voice to Congress to fight for commonsense Hoosier values.  Mike and I are exited to stand here with you today, as we continue to pledge our commitments to create jobs, cut taxes, reduce our deficit, and help American get back on track,” said Walorski.

    WALORSKI ENDORSED BY NFIB PAC

Elkhart, IN- Republican Congressional Candidate Jackie Walorski (IN-02) today announced her recent endorsement from the National Federation of Small Business PAC, the nation’s leading small-business advocacy organization.  This important recognition follows other notable endorsements from the U.S. and Indiana State Chamber of Commerce named earlier this week.

“I am proud to receive the support of the NFIB PAC for my candidacy in this race,” said Walorski.  “The NFIB is a critical voice for small-business owners in the second district, and together we have successfully partnered to advocate for pro-business growth initiatives. I will continue to promote their incentives to protect free enterprise and pass job creating legislation in Congress.”

Walorski’s endorsement comes from the Save America’s Free Enterprise (SAFE) Trust, the NFIB political action committee.  Candidates are selected based on their positions regarding key issues such as taxes, labor, health care, and regulatory reform.   During her six-year term in the Indiana State Legislature, Walorski earned an 81% lifetime NFIB voting record.

“Jackie Walorski is the proven voice for small business in this race,” said Lisa Goeas, NFIB Vice President, Political and Grassroots. “Jackie understands that lower taxes help businesses to invest, grow and create more jobs.”

According to the NFIB, there are nearly 2,000 active small business members residing in Indiana’s second district.   Many of these voters are expected to turn out to the polls on Election Day to support NFIB endorsed candidates like Walorski.
